Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology is continuing to expand and capable of producing high quality pictures of joints, tendons and other soft tissue structures. There has also been a rapidly growing body of research supporting the use of ultrasound in improving the diagnosis and management of arthritis and other joint and musculoskeletal diseases.

At GCSP, our providers utilize ultrasound technology to help improve the diagnostic accuracy of conditions ranging from inflammatory arthritis such as Rheumatoid arthritis and Psoriatic arthritis, to degenerative arthritis such as Osteoarthritis and crystal diseases such as Gout and Pseudogout.

Monitoring of arthritis using ultrasound also allows our doctors to rely on technology that does not produce radiation such as x-rays and that is more cost-effective than MRI’s.

Our Providers may also use ultrasound-guided injections to improve the accuracy of injections thereby decreasing the chance of procedure related pain, tissue injury, infection, and bleeding.
